Well that settles it, the NBA Finals will consist of the L.A. Lakers vs. Boston Celtics, as the green defeated Detroit in game six last night. This year the finals are everythng about a classic rivalry. The epic matchup was made allthe more laudable in the 1980's when Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were at the head of the pack for the most storied teams in NBA history. Bird vs Magic will now be seen as the birg three vs Kobe.

I was in Findlay last night in quite of a weather mixup. Thunder, lightning, mass wind, and even tornados filled the surrounding area last evening. I was going to stop at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at Liberty Benton high school when I came home, but it appeared not to be happening due to the weather.

Tonight is a pivital game for the Boston Celtics as they play Detroit in game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. I may not get to see the first part of it as I am going with a friend to eat out to celebrate my birthday. My bday was eight days ago, but scheduling conflicts existed until now.

The Schroeder softball team plays for their first win on Thursday and the season finally of LOST is on. Thursday will be an exciting day for none of the forementioned reasons though. Excitement fills me because I am speaking to the sixth graders at Allen East. It is true that most of my speaking is done but not limited to high schools. I make a difference n lives of whatever age of people I talk to, and that is the awesomest feeling.

I met with Marsha Rivas on Tuesday, May 27 about attending a conference up in Sandusky in the beginning of September. Actually it is the first Thursday of the month and it lasts through Sunday, but the last day will be spent at Cedar Point.

Today I am going to the YMCA in Ottawa after I meet up with some people for lunch. In the past years a cardiovascular workout was done about four days per week and weight lifting was done three times. But since I was having trouble with my knee the workouts have lost intensity and frequency. My ACL is completely torn, or rather there is no proximal attatchment point of the graft remaining. It is the same knee I had reconstructive surgery, to repair a torn ACL, done during my junior year's high school basketball season. Lately I have only been doing a workout one or two times per week. Eventually the hope is that I'll return to my workout routine. Even though it may be hard at first those endorphines realeased by your body is a great feeling.

This week on Tuesday I made more contacts. Some people I met at the hospital were some bigwigs from Arizona, and they were intrigued with my story, and I gave them some of my business cards. They are going to distribute and get me some speaking gigs. It may be optimistic but at least I'm getting my name out there. If you haven't yet be sure to check out my web page:

As far as other things go... the Boston Celtics play their second game of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight...

Well... the Boston Celtics won, but it was a tough game 7 contest. Cleveland has an up and coming team led by Lebron James. Lebron is good but lets not put him in the same classification as Bird, Jordan, and the other greats quite yet.

What is going on with me lately? Its graduation season so I attended 1 party this weekend, and I've gotten invites for two more next weekend. The food is superb, but one has to be careful not to get too round.

I volunteer at the guest services desk in St. Rita's hospital on each Tuesday, and there is a volunteer appreciation luncheon on Monday, May 19. So I'll be there. Tuesday is a speacial day to me. It is my birthday. The only good thing about getting older is I hear more wisdom comes with age!

I am stll working on an autobiography, and I am hoping to be done by January, 2009. Any interesting ideas you'd like to hear about please email me, matt@mattschroeder.org.

I will update this periodically...
