It is now Friday, and I have a big weekend. Since it is May 1st and the first Friday of the month, along with being Catholic, I am going to attend mass. This morning the mass has special intentions for my grandparents. Other than that, and mowing the yard (if it gets dry today sometime,) the last weekday of the week will be relatively tame. The weekend gets pretty hairy (busy) beginning Saturday morning at the crack of dawn. I am going with the Gary and Carla to their son Luke’s AAU basketball tournament. It is being played in Indiana, and supposedly it will be fielding all star type teams from throughout the nation. I have never been to an AAU tournament, but the basketball surroundings make for an exciting atmosphere. I love basketball, and apparently this is it at its finest. Topping the OHSAA state basketball tournament will be nearly impossible though since there is so much tension and hype surrounding high school basketball titles, but hopefully it will make the basketball off-season a little easier to take. Saturday will be an all day event.
Then Sunday I am marching, as a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus member, in the First Communion celebration Mass. It is a treat to get all dressed up in my Tuxedo, cape, and chapeau. Also on Sunday I want to call my new friend, that I met Tuesday evening at the Beer Barrel, and I’ll see if she survived the party from Saturday. One of her friends is getting married soon, and I hear those parties can get a little crazy sometimes.
I know Eric was maybe going to get transferred to Columbus yesterday, but I have not yet checked Jeff’s blog about the situation and I am a little surprised that I have not heard from my old person friend, Amy(LOL.) Ha ha…I want to emphasize her being OLD, and the fact is that even she told me on Wednesday night that she noticed her own gray hairs. If that is not a sign of being old then I cannot imagine what is.
I will find out about Eric and post an update later today. I feel connected with him and his family, and I sort of have first hand experience of what his parents must deal with. I can give them comfort and hope, but the best, and most powerful, deed I can do for them is pray. I hope everyone will do that!
